Where's Java in windows XP?

Hi, there are couple of apps on the net that I need Java Virtual machine to run, but the problem is I can't find where I'm suppose to download it. I remember with win98 and internet explorer 6.0, there would be an option on the update page to download it. But now it says that microsoft has removed it. I don't know where it has gone. Do any of you out there know where I can find it? THanks.
