Microsoft used to have a connectoin speed test that you could click on and test your actual connection speed, but they got rid of the page.

Any other web pages that test connection speed?

Thanks. :)

Your distance from the server plays a vital role in the speed detection.

Oh this has been beaten to death! Here are some common (and not so common) sites:

MSN Bandwidth Test

2Wire Test

TelUS.NET

Cable Modem Network Speed Test

Computers 4 Sure Speed Test

DSL Reports Java based speed test

Verizon Simple Speed Test

Simple Speed Test

Speedtest.Net

ToastNet Speed Tests

i-Bench (tests a lot more than speed!)

Out of all of them, I prefer DSL reports early in the AM. It does test your upload as well. I tested our T3 with it as well. I've seen uploads as high as 8.5 mbps but I get an error message when trying to graph it because it says the site doesn't support data rates that high! :) Also, this was taken on a computer with only a 10 mbps NIC.

Cheers!
