Where's a good place to buy quality cable-tv splitters?

I've been using the cheap-a$$ 99 cent for years, but i only recently began to wonder why some channels look so crappy on my Wega. SO, i decided to bypass the stupid splitter and run the cable line straight into my cable box. All of the scrolling diagonal lines disappeared!! But the only problem with running the cable line into my box is that i can't do that AND run a line into my mom's room. This is where the splitter's a problem. Are the splitters at RadioShack pretty reliable and of fair quality? If not, any other places where they're not overpriced?

I'm not a cable-tv nut or anything, but what does a low signal have to do with having white diagonal lines run across most of my channels?

when a cable signal gets splitlited into 2, the signal gets weakend because the original source signal is getting splitted into 2 signals
i dont know the exact technical details, but i did improve my picture quality by adding a signal amplifier to the splitter i had

Next time you see your local cable guy in his van ask him for a new splitter or just call and ask if you can pick up a new one. Last time the cable guy was at my house I asked for one and he gave me a handful. My cable has never looked so good.

sort of...

a low signal will give you snow most likely..

the white diagnonal lines is more likely due to interference with the signal going to the tv... put in an FM trap or something... or if your cabling is not rg6, replace the cabling with rg6. the cables coming from the antennae on the roof are all rg59 =(... but the ones from the dish are all rg6 quad shield.

of course an amp with a built in fm trap would produce the best results...

FM is the most common source for tv signal interference... though power lines and all that will also cause problems..

haha Mday, you just threw in a whole lotta technical information i wasn't hoping to know :p Ok, so the next time i visit Radioshack, i'll try to find a splitter/amplifier/FMtrap.
