Where would YOU start?

I have an ASUS K8V deluxe/Athlon 64 3200 based system which crashed recently and now won't POST. The MoBo gives me an audio message "system failed CPU test" on reboot. I

cannot get into the BIOS at all, EVEN after resetting the CMOS jumper and/or removing the battery. I could always buy a new chip and see if that solves the problem, but I'd like to be able to get into the BIOS and do some troubleshooting before dropping the coin. Any suggestions as to how I should start diagnosing this problem?

As a start...how do I reset the BIOS?

Thanks, all.

Take *everything* apart and put back the board, CPU, VGA & RAM back together, along with the case wires. Try one stick of RAM at a time. If that doesnt help, you need to try another CPU - and eventually work towards isolating the problem.

Probably your CPU then with that error though.

Tried that ---- no love 🙁. Im thinking its the CPU. However, since MoBo's are cheaper, might it be wise to start with a new board first...easier to return MoBo's too isnt it?

Quick follow up for anyone still following...I bought a new athlon64 3200+ tosday after work and installed it and.......

Success!! Everything is fine again! I Guess ASUS's POST reporting system rocks! And so do you all who predicted this outcome. Thanks to everyone for your help, as always!!
