I"m looking for a laptop with either 1920*1200 or 1600*1200 with no larger than a 15.4" screen OR a lapop with about a 12" screen that does 1400*1050 (like http://www.toshibadirect.com/t...26367&ccid=1291021 )
The specs of the laptop would have to have the following
nice keyboard+touchpad
preferably a pentium-m motherboard either with or without cpu (if it has a cpu, shoud be at least 1.5ghz)
OR a socket 754 motherboard with 2800+mobile 35w or without cpu
both boards should allow changing of settings through bios, such as vcore, vmem, fsb/ht, multiplier, (you can always undervolt and overclock a little bit ;P)
exchangable video cards, like what alienware has, but this is not a strict must have
9800 mobile grahpcs (based of x800s)
dvdrw drive
no hard drive- must still have a hard drive bay for 2.5" drives
no os- kinda goes with the no hdd dosent it? lol
no ram -2 or more slots though
nice battery- nice battery life
speakers not necessary
good cooling solution to allwo for upgrades
most importantly, and above all, it must be tough(sturdy) and support linux, unix, and bsd
umm, not butt ugly please...
hopefully soemthing like this would cost a good bit under 2k, because if you think about it, its missing a most of the parts
as a note, i do not want it to break in the next 10 years and good support is a big +, but not fully necessary. i'll probably be upgrading in 10 years again, but i'm still using my old p1 100mhz laptop if that tells you anything
