Still undecided. Gamestop offers free overnight shipping 54.99, EB also offers free shipping and matches Gamestop's price 54.99, however it's a two day shipping. Fry's are the cheapest but they will get the game on the 4th plus shipping takes longer, 47.99 btw.

I went with Amazon minus the extra goodies as they'll probably be one of the very first to get it. Cost me $20 for second day air to my location though. Ah well. I should have it by the 5th or 6th and it'll all be worthwhile.

EB store. I have the game pre-ordered from another EB about 20 mins from my house, but they just opened a new one literally across the street from me, so i'll hopefully be able to transfer my pre-order that one... then it's just a 2 min walk to get my game.

Ebgames online, because I just purchase like 10 games from them at a time and let them come when they get released.

EB store. I pre-ordered online and I will pick it up at the store. I don't see why more people do not do this, I don't have to pay shipping and my copy will be ready to play on Aug. 3.

Buy alert!: No Doom 3 for Microsoft os < win 2000, XP. From PlanetDoom
Well there have been rumours flying around lately that DOOM 3 would not be able to run on computers that have Windows 98 or Windows 98SE as their operating systems. Since we here at planetDOOM dislike rumours in all shapes and sizes, we went straight to the horses mouth so to speak and asked Activision themselves. The reply we got was that it is confirmed and indeed true that DOOM 3 will only run on Windows machines that have windows 2000 or XP and not lower. So there you have it, looks like some peoples upgrading woes just aren't quite over yet.

Most EB Games locations are getting Doom3 same day air from Activision, so if you want it as early as possible...

Because then they would have to walk outside. Sounds like sunlight and exercise.

Rumors? I thought this was common sense, one, because it was pretty obvious, and two, because all the order sites i've seen, has only listed it as XP/2000 only. http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/223988.asp#Specifications

Evertime I've preordered a game, the store (Best Buy) always ends up having numerous copies to sell to walk-ins so I won't go that route for D3. I dying for this game to come out, but I think I'll wait until the first Sunday after U.S. release just to see if one of the main chain stores puts it on sale for a little less. That's what they did with UT4 when it came out and I wound up saving about $10 on it.

No offense intended but it's mid 2004. Why would you not be running Win2K or WinXP by now? Win98 is a 6-7 year old OS and WinME is an abortion. Unless you're running a business application that doesn't cooperate with 2K/XP you should be running it. I could see the Linux crowd complaining but 95/98/ME - get with the times! :p

I'll probably just walk into EB and get it. No preorder needed, there aren't enough serious PC gamers around here to deplete the stock on the first day.

Damn, I thought you'd realised a cunning ploy to invest in companies likely to sell the most Doom3.

I pre-ordered some time ago from GamePlay in the UK and for the price of £26.99. What I do like about Gameplay is that when a game is released in the UK (Usually a Friday) I tend to get my copy the day before...which is a bonus. :D

Changed link...

There is no excuse to NOT be running 2000 or XP. If you don't have the money to buy those OSes, Linux is free. If you are still running 98/ME, you don't deserve to play Doom3.

$37.49 shipped from Amazon.com

Order date was 11/13/2003. Was running some % off special promotion thing.

Not quite as hot as my HL2 preorder for $32.4x shipped (including tax) from Compusa on the same date

Probably Gamestop since they claim they are getting them shipped out Friday, July 30th and will have them in store on July 31st, Saturday. At least that what allt he store reps told me around here. They were as shocked as I was. :p
