So if you have Comcast, I'm sure your aware that they have started to get rid of channels for people who dont have a digital box. Basically anything over channel 25 you cant get anymore. So naturally, my tv tuner setup on my pc is pretty much worthless.

This past thursday the main tv in my house was being used for xbox, so i missed always sunny. I was scrambling to see if i could find a live broadcast online though, but had no luck.

I'm a Comcast subscriber, so i dont know if that allows me to sign up for anything.

I know i can get hbo go, which will give me hbo stuff almost instantly. but is there anything else?

If theres nothing great out there, i might end up getting a slingbox and an extra cable box, and then just streaming it to my pc/phone.

I know theres p2p4u.net for sporting events, but im really just looking for what used to be channels 25-70 on comcast, live.

Get a free converter box from comcast and set that up with your pc/media center.

picked one up, but that is just like a mini digital box isnt it? im not going to be able to tune from my pc, only with the remote.

Plus id just like to know if i ever need to find a show online if im not home.

I'm fairly positive media center can be setup to tune/control external boxes, assuming you have IR blasters...just like any universal remote.

I don't have a good suggestion otherwise. Check out hulu plus I guess.

I use a Win7 media center PC with an HDHomeRun Prime and lease a CableCARD from my cableco. Works great. All digital. I get movie channels too.

Does comcast sell cablecards? I thought u cant buy those from them?

Do you get on demand too?

CableCARD doesn't support VOD, but that's what Netflix is good for. Netflix is integrated right into the Windows Media Center UI.

All cablecos are required to offer cableCARD if their system can support it. Even switched digital cable systems can work with the card (Verizon FIOS) because the tuner has a USB port for the tuning adapter. I'm actually not sure if a provider like AT&T Uverse can support cableCARDs or not.

Verizon FIOS doesn't require a tuning adapter. I have FIOS with a Ceton card and a tuning adapter is not needed. One is usually required for Comcast, Brighthouse, and Time-Warner cable systems though, among others.

Edit: Uverse doesn't support CCs because it is IP-based.

Hmm...I thought FIOS was switched. Maybe in some areas?

Anyway, yeah. I was pretty sure AT&T isn't CableCARD compatible (around here, anyway). I just wasn't sure if all service areas were the same.

FIOS has such an incredible amount of bandwidth available they aren't concerned about having to resort to SDV whereas cablecos are constrained by the total amount of bandwidth they can squeeze into copper lines so SDV is a necessity.

Uverse is the same everywhere. It's all IP-based instead of a QAM. Only QAM systems are CC compatible.

ended up getting a slingbox. This thing is freaking awesome. I think if more people realized how easy it is to set up, it would sell a lot more.

My only problem with it is the web interface kinda sucks balls, but its usable.
