I've gotten a few chain emails from friends about sending $1 here or there. There will undoubtedly be hundreds of scam artists trying to capitalize on human emotion at this time and I'd like to be able to give guidance on this. I've been on hold for 20 min with the CA Dept of Consumer Affairs and I'm giving up on them.

Only donate to organizations you know.. Red Cross, Salvation Army, etc. I wouldn't trust anyone else that is spamming you asking for money.
