I have a Gigabyte GA-8IR533 Mobo, 512 RAM, a Nvidia GeForce FX5200 Card and a P4 2.0 Ghz 400FSB CPU. I'm thinking about upgrade either the card or CPU or both. I wanted to suck a few more years out of my machine before I get a new gaming Rig. Can anyone suggest where to start? I 've checked on my mobo and the highest CPU upgrade is a P4 Northwood 2.6 Ghz 400FSB. What do you guys suggest for a new Vid card?

Maybe try OCing that CPU a little. Upgrading it to a 2.6ghz P4 isn't goign to help as much as getting a decent graphics card. What is your budget?

how about bumping the ram to 2x512MB (1GB), OCing the cpu, and getting a geforce 6600GT. that will breathe new life into it for sure.

Get this 512mb stick of ram

And Get this X800GTO

Total: around $190.

And overclock that P4 to 2.6GHZ or as much as you can and your system will be much better. Especially with the X800GTO, which is between a 6800 and 6800GT in speed, which makes it an EXCELLENT upgrade from an FX5200. I can say this because I upgraded to a 6800 from a Geforce 4 MX440SE(basically about the same speed as a 5200, maybe a bit slower), and it was a HUGE jump in speed.

OK great...Thanks Drew1082...If I get another 512 stick of RAM (1GB total) and the new Vid Card should that get me a few more years of gaming? Also, I'm not sure if my cpu is overclockable...I took some shots of the BIOS screen...can someone take a look and tell me if it is and where to start?
