Where to stay in Vegas

I am goin to Vegas in a couple weeks and are looking for cheap places to stay there, but still someplace that is near stuff...I heard the stardust is usually not too expensive, maybe the sahara....i dont mind being on that part of the strip...

any suggestions on deals?

Yep, the Howard Johnson's on Tropicana off of I-15...probably the cheapest "nice" place in town. No, it isn't the Luxor.

I see no reason to pay a lot of money for a bed, bathroom, and television. There is even a little casino and bar on the main floor, but then everything in Vegas has a casino in it. It is within 15 minutes walking time to just about everything of importance, but they offer free shuttles to everything nearby.

Anywhere on the strip. Pick up a LV book at your bookstore. Also, look around the net, there are major discounts on hotel rooms on weekdays (mon-thurs).

I second the Circus Circus. When my family went, I was only 15 (so no fun for me... 🙂), but as a general rule, my dad's a cheapskate.

I wouldn't be suprised if CC wasn't the cheapest hotel in the area that still manages to have a huge internal casino and almost as big dining area.

i stayed at circus circus the only time i went before...but that was on labor day weekend so all the prices were jacked up...

too many little kids there, when my friend and i had been drinking we just ended up plowing over little kids...

but since i am goin on weekdays maybe it will be cool

what are u talking about u have to drive from CC? its closer then sahara.

I've spent a fair amount of time in Vegas on business trips. My employer at that time didn't want to spend much on hotels. I've stayed at all ends of the strip and this is my opinion...

Where I stay usually doesn't matter to me. It's where I can get on foot that matters, because when I go to Vegas I want to drink, gamble a little and see things -- all while drinking. So I usually end up walking around at night.

If you stay downtown, it doesn't matter where, because everything is centrally located.

If you stay on the north side of the strip, Circus Circus, you're pretty much out there on your own. You'll have to drive, take the bus or take a taxi to get somewhere. I don't like to stay on the north side of the strip.

Now the south side is a much different story. The hotels are closer together, they have transportation between them (trains/foot bridges) and the streets have bridges so you don't have to mess with traffic. I love staying at Excalibur and from there I can usually walk to anything I want to see. And, IMHO, the best hotels to see are down there, so it's perfect.

Enjoy your trip! 🙂

I stayed at Barbary Coast last year July - $45/night. It's location is prime too. It's near Flamingo's, Bellagio, Mirage, Bally's, all the big name stuff.
