Just looking for a nice ocean front place to stay. Quiet is a plus and cheap is good. Any suggestions? (we've never been there)

We have stayed here the last few years. It is ocean front but I'm not sure how "quiet" it generally is. I mean, I haven't seen alot of partying going on there but there are alot of families so kids are there.
And I'm not sure what you call cheap.

Looking for quiet in Myrtle Beach is like looking for quiet in Panama City. With that being said, if you're just looking for beaches and quiet, but want to stay in Myrtle, then look up North Myrtle Beach. That may be exactly what you're looking for.

I remember when my family started going to Duck, NC. Back then, it was just a dirt road and an endless stretch of quiet beach. Now, it's a well developed community. I do miss the quiet of those days.

I'm just looking for somewhere that doesn't have a band playing every night and is more family-oriented than party-oriented.

OK, good. The place I linked is exactly that. We have two (ages 3 and 5) kids and have gone there the last 3 years. Going again end of July. They have the little submarine water area for small kids and a couple of other kid pools. One inside pool and one outside pool and a lazy river that is part inside and part outside. No bands that I have ever seen. Again, I don't know your price range but I'm pretty sure our room is ~$200/night but once you stay they will send ~30% coupons for your next stay.

THanks! That place works for me!

Are you not wanting to be near all the traffic and want a more quiet option, I'd recommend heading to the Cherry Grove area. It's basically the farthest north, but is still relatively cheap. You can head all the way south toward Litchfield if you want something quiet and expensive.

Are you planning on going this weekend? If so...don't. It's one of the bike weekends and you will not enjoy yourself...unless that is what you are going for...but since you said "quiet", I'm assuming that is not the case.
