Depends what you're wanting to print. Different machines, even on the low end, have different size print areas.

Printrbot simple metal? $700 is more than some others, but you can use generic filament (save money in the long run.) 6x6x6 print area, they sell kits to upgrade one axis at a time - another $200 will get you to 6x10x10" they also come preassembled and you can buy one at microcenter.

Whoa man, right now you have a lot of choices.

These guys do good job in aggregating all that data.

Personally, I got into 3d printing quit recently.

After my friend printed this phone stand right in front of me, I was sold!

He set the printer up overnight I believe it took like 10+ hours or so and the next day, this phone stand was waiting for us in his box shaped printer.

To be honest though, I think it's not going to be in every person's home. At least not in the next 25 years. The only thing that will push this industry faster is a massive price drop in these 3D Printers. If you got a budget, go with something between $500 or $1000.

UPDATE: I just acquired a Form 2 Resin Printer. Can't wait to share my creations with the community here. YES! SO HAPPY :)
