Need some places where I can sell my old college textbooks that gives me money in cash instead of gift cards (like Amazon's trade-in). I just want to be able to send in my books and get money without having to worry about all the details.

Any local college book store?

Around OSU, I sold most of my books that way. Typically at the store I bought them from, or one down the street.

Also, you can just list books for sale on amazon.com. Just sold an older one today. They'll be wiring the money directly into my back account toward the beginning of next month.

you could hang out on the side of a student center and sell them like drugs
This.

When I had to get rid of some first year engineering books, I posted a sign on the wall outside the book store. I sold all 3 books to the first person who called :)

I always use half.com, but it may not be the quickest solution here. I have tried craigslist, but had no luck with it.

The only reason I am opposed to selling the back to the book store is I barely get 40% of what I paid back.

Amazon.com, I sell them used there, of course Amazon gets a cut but I get more back than I would get if I directly sold them back.

The only online ones I'd consider are Amazon.com or half.com, depending on which ones the book is worth more :)

The problem with Amazon's trade in policy is that they give you an Amazon.com gift card, I'd rather get cash or some form of credit card.

We who have mentioned amazon have said nothing about some trade in policy. In fact, I have no idea what you are talking about.

You can sell for cash on Amazon. I just shipped a book today. ^_^

I use half.com if I don't need the money right away. If I need it IMMEDIATELY I just use the college bookstore, but that usually results in an insultingly lowball return (makes gamestop look good). I've used craigslist and facebook marketplace to sell my books to local students who will need them next year anyway. They pay a decent amount less than the bookstore sells them, and I get more than the bookstore will give so everybody wins.

That's what I did as well. You'll typically get more money from the non-university bookstore than from the official university bookstore.
