Where to recycle batteries?

There's a battery store but it's out of the way. I can't find anywhere else that will take old batteries (Lithium camera, watch batteries, etc). Anyone know? Should regular alkaline batteries be recycled?

local wet land/pond?

oh wait, there is a web site with mucho info on this

wait one

nevermind , i don't know

i think in my town, 2 times a year, fall and spring, they let us put out nasty stuff that they take care of, maybe your normal garbage company does something?

little batteries just throw in the trash. big car batteries smash them apart with a sledge hammer (remember to wear safety glasses and old clothes for safety reasons) and spread them across 3 or 4 trashdays. there only made out of lead and plastic so they come apart real easy.
