Hmm. You own one of the most stolen cars in America (albeit typically more recent models) and you want to put a spare key somewhere on the car. How about putting it in your wallet instead? That's where I keep my spare key and it's always been there when I need it. I also gave a spare key to my parents, just in case I manage to lock not only my regular key but my wallet in my car.

Magnets tend to do that when someone's hand pulls on them.

Those things are a bad idea. If it falls off while your car is parked... it could just be sitting right next to your car the whole time...

If you are that bad with keys, make a neckchain with one on it, put one in your wallet, tie one to your belt, stick one underneath the sole of your shoes or something, but for god's sake don't put it so out in the open. Always keep your keys on your person or in a place where no one you can't trust can get to them.

yeah, get a flat key or shave down the bulky plastic handle(?), and put it in your wallet

On top of the hood. No one will look there ;)

On the exhaust, under the bumper, in the wheel well, on the frame if you dont mind crawlin a bit.

I wouldn't trust the magnet. I got a hide a key then drilled two holes through it. Put the key inside strung some very think wire kinda like a coat hanger but thicker and stiffer went under the car looked for a spot on the frame where I could wrap the wire and around then twist it off to ensure it will never fall off. The hide a key cannot be seen only two strips of wire which are very hard to see unless you are looking directly at it. Works perfect. Some people are way to paronoid to think a car thief is ever going to find a key hidden like that.

edit: grammar fix

1) Get a car alarm with keyless entry.
2) Get married, and make sure your wife has a remote as well.

#1 is easier than #2

I had a crappy 1987 Chevy S10 until just a few weeks ago, and I kept one of these magnetic boxes in the spare wheel that hangs underneath the truck. It stayed there with no problems for like five years.

It wasn't easy to get to it. The tire had to be lowered a bit (it's hanging on a steel wire), and you had to climb under the bumper, and then search around the dirty tire with your hand... but the point was that it'd be hard to get too, right?

Hahahaha, I had one of those and the only time I needed to use it, I checked, and it had fallen off. :D

Make sure to check it every now and then before you really need it.
