Where to put a subwoofer

New 5.1 setup, and wondering were should i put the subwoofer. (its for a computer). I have 2 places for it. On top of the computer desk (not on it on it, like a top shelf that goes across top of computer desk). Or put it on the floor somewere.

Were should I put it (like optimal place).

and one more question, when it says rear right channel, does that mean when I'm facing the screen it's on the right, or on the left.

Put the subwoofer on a floor, and if possible, in the corner of the room.

Rear right means that if you're sitting in your chair facing the monitor, the speaker that is behind you and to your right.

The subwoofer is like 3 inches from me feet. I can really feel it rumble. Unfortunaltly there really isn't anywere else to put it. Shakes the chair too.

Depending on the set, a central location rather than a corner might be best. If it's one of the higher end computer speaker sets, the crossover is probably low enough that the bass is going to be mostly hard to locate, but if it's a set with a higher crossover to compensate for more limited rangs satellites, then you'd probably want a more centralized location so the bass doesn't seem to come from a corner.
