I suggest visiting your local mom-&-pop type of computer store and take along a sample of the standoffs your case uses, since they are not a standardized item per se. They probably have a lot of leftover ones.

CompUSA sells brass standoffs for $.50/each. The SKU is 294958, so I would call ahead to see if your local store carries them.

For case screws are you looking for thumb screws? For regular screws Lowes/HomeDepot sells 6-32x1/4 UNC machine screws which is what most cases use.

A quick note about mom and pop computer stores. I worked at one for many years and yes this is something we had laying around and were always happy to give up.

HOWEVER please buy something from your mom and pop retailer when doing this. I know we/they are more money then the on-line places or even the big box stores but where else can you find someone that actually knows what you are talking about and talk face to face with them. Don't just walk in ask a whole bunch of questions or get "freebie" items then go online and do your major shopping online. spend the 10 or 20 bucks extra and get that cpu or the mobo from your local mom and pop shop. Because one day that store may not be there and when you need that new cooling fan for your cpu that gave up the ghost at 4AM you can pick up a panaflo L1A at 9AM and be back up and running the same day.

Also http://www.cyberguys.com carries a lot of that stuff. And http://www.compgeeks.com usually carries baggies of installation hardware and complete kits with HD/FD/audio cables and the baggie of parts - the complete kit is the better deal as it's only 50 cents more than the parts alone.
. OTOH, the standoffs in the baggie may not be the size you need. The brass standoffs are in several sizes but usually 1/4" with 6-32 thread. I got a kit from compgeeks, but I forgot what size the standoffs were. So if you want to be sure, then go to your local Mom & Pop or order separately from cyberguys.

In smaller towns where nary a CompUSA or Best Buy can be found for 20 miles the small stores move in and believe they can get away with charging exorbitant prices because they are the only one (or they just think the locals are idiots). It's unfortunate, but their pricing a generic 300 watt power supply at $60 leaves me no hard feelings when they go under.

I'm not saying it's that way in your case/store, but supporting my example above - whom I believe amount to thieves - is not something I suggest.

i buy lots of small stuff from svc.com because they can ship USPS First Class, which is an extreme cheap and relatively fast shipping option for small/light things.

I agree with you 100% I am sure some places do drive themself outof business.... its just bad business. The place I worked at on average charged about 10-15% premium over what you could get parts for online(newegg mwave and such).
