Where to live and have easy access to Amsterdam?

I want to move to Europe.

I heard Amsterdam is expensive to live in, plus because of the legal drugs, there's lots of crime for drug $.

Where are some inexpensive, relatively safe places to live near Amsterdam?

I just have to ask, why do you want to live in an expensive, drug ridden, high crime area?
