I brought my latop with Win ME to campus to
download some big files from the internet.
I set my laptop as "client for microsoft network".
but when it start up, the log-in window only
ask the user name and the password. it did not
ask for the domain. after i input my user name
and passwork, i can not use the network resourse,
and can not see the neighborhood computer.
Althrough i can surf the internet, the speed is
not very good, only 20k/s, normally it should
be 80k/s.

now the question is how can i change the log-in
window, then i can input the right domain?
i think the network on campus is based on windows NT.

thanks.

if you have a domain to log into, you have to go to control panel and go to networking..

check the box that says log onto domain and enter the domain.

I would check your network properties and make sure you have a protocol that's called "NETBEUI". I doubt your campus expects all computers to log into a domain, but you never know... If you don't see "NETBEUI" on that list click on the add button and look under protocols, then Microsoft, and you'll see in in there. Click OK. Then restart your computer.

thank ur guys for the response.
but the problem was still not solved.

Chatterjee: where is the box u mentioned:

"check the box that says log onto domain and enter the domain."
I am using win ME. i can not find it.

Scarpozzi: i had already added the NETBEUI, but no help, i
still can not input my domain name.

Call technical support for your campus. They should be able to help you.

I sincerely doubt a network of any size would run Netbeui.

Logon to windows domain is under the "client for microsoft networks" properties in your network control panel.
