Planning the honeymoon for next October. Big day is 10-4 good buddy.

I'd like to find a hotel that has the pamper, lock yourself in the room for a few days package, but then we'd like to go and see some sights. We'd like to go somewhere and see something that we would have done on a regular vacation.

We did Ireland this past March with some friends and it was a blast, but I'm thinking we aren't going to want go straight back there, that was my first trip out of the states and I loved it but looking for something different for variety.

We both got about 10k AA miles from that trip, plus two citi AA card bonuses(I got 20k +25k, but its now up to 25k and 25k for her) so we will have enough miles for a free trip anywhere American flys. We'd been thinking about staying in the states to save money, but the free airfare opens up the budget some, although whatever we don't spend from the wedding+honeymoon bucket goes into the house down payment bucket.

We're both interested in Europe, but the Euro and the Pound scare me.

We're not really beach people, I can see where that honeymoon can be a lot of fun, but every family vacation I went on as a kid was to a beach and it burned me out. And locking myself up in a high star resort on an island/area where the entire population works at the hotel doing laundry isn't me either.

I'm just drawing a blank, I was expecting to be scheming ways to afford the ultimate honeymoon, but I need to figure out what the dream is first.

Suggestions pls? kthx

I don't get that statement. I mean where ever you go you will have the local people working in the hotel you stay.

Why not go to Switzerland? There's a Four Seasons in Geneva for your hotel-lockup, plus it's a beautiful country.

noted.

I've never booked frequent flier mile tickets before, but it seems logical to me that I won't need to book them 9 months in advance for the good rate, just book before all of the flights sell out, so we have to keep this thread going until June at least.

I just got back from my 3 week honeymoon to New Zealand. Out of all the countries I've been to (and there have been quite a few), New Zealand has been my favorite. Awesome country!

It was 75-80 there almost every day (north and south island) but we went from Nov 20 - Dec 10. It might be a bit chilly in October.

ttp, still not sure, started to think about eastern europe, but it's going to cost me an extra 20k miles per ticket to go to europe after the honeymoon. We could wait a bit but for some reason I think it's going to be best to go right after wedding.

Off-peak dates: The Caribbean and Mexico: Sep.7-Nov.14; Central America, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela: Jan.16-Jun.14; Sep.7-Nov.14; Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay: Mar.1-May 31; Aug.16-Nov.30; Europe:eek:ct.15-May 15; Japan: Oct.1-Apr.30.

Just my opinion, but unless you are really looking for a good deal, steer away from any place that has a jhurricane season during that time. It's just not worth the chance of completely screwing up your honeymoon. I think you would be better off either waiting (December 10-20 is usually a cheaper time to travel), or going some place that isn't threatened by hurricanes.

Southern hemisphere, perhaps?
