Hi folks....

First let me describe my rig:

PCI E mobo, MSI Nforce4 SLi
AMD 4200+ X2
PowerLogic 500W PSU
kingston PC3200 DDR400 2GB
WD 2x 250GB SATA 7200RPM
MSI 7800GT
Creative X-Fi Plaitnum
Sony DVD RW
logitech wireless desktop
Viewsonic VX2025WM (kinda faulty but anyway, can live with it... ; p )

So i' thinking of doin' an upgrade... specially on the GFX card..
So, should i go SLi or buy a new one... My budget is a maximum of $350.
Will SLi improve that much? Or should i look in other direction?
Will i need to buy a new PSU if i decide to go SLi?

Help me on this one plz...

Holla!

I think you are okay. There's no need for an upgrade. 7800GT is decent enough for now until DX10 cards hit the streets. There's no rush. Just chill!

How is the monitor faulty?? The VX2025wm has two known and unfixable problems. It has the backlight bleeding and it can't scale. Also the VGA ports sometimes have some trouble. If it's anything other than that you should get it RMA'd.

How do you think your computer games. Can you live with it? (the 7800GT?)

The next "logical" upgrade would be 2GB of ram.

Well yaa.. my VX2025WM has the bleeds and goes blank on most of the games when i change the resolution... and i'm using the VGA port...DVI it's just faulty like a MTF. I don't use it at all...

Well the games are ok... but i guess they could be better...
Should I buy a new PSU if i wanted to go for SLi.. Like buy those Sli certified PSU and ******...?

2GB??? already hv 2GB... or are u suggesting putting 2 more... like having 4GB now??

Thanks 4 the replies btw!! : )

Oh. Misread your OP. Apparently others have misread it also. (why not edit it to say you have 2GB :p)

No. I meant a total of 2GB.
Then your pretty much fine.

I guess a nice cheap upgrade could be a 7900GT then vmod it.
I would also try and stay away from SLIing an older card like yours.

The "ideal" thing to do would to be to save your money up till beginning of next year then do a massive overhaul. But if you can't wait, a video card would be the next "logical" step. (since I misread your OP and amount of RAM).

Also how many amps on the 12v rail

Edit: My VX2025wm came and it was pretty bright out of the box. Even after I turned down some stuff on the monitor it just didn't feel like my vp930b. I found that by turning down the gamma in the CP to ~.89ish and turning up the digital vibrance (like a few clicks. You DON'T want too much. It should say low but it should be pretty close to the left).

Just thought I'd add that in there.

Well about the PSU, not sure how many amps on the 12v rail... I'll doble check on that...

BTW, with your VX2025WM, are u using DVI port or VGA?
Does ur screen go blank too??

And yeah, i've editted the PC specs to 2GB lol...

An X1900XT would fall into your price limit. Maybe even an XTX. It performs pretty closely to even the upcoming X1950XTX. However, you would also have to get a new power supply IMO and even a DX10 card would require you to do that.

Some 7900GT's will give you a good price/performance ratio as well. Going SLI with your 7800 could be another possibility if you can find a decent one off of ebay.

500-600watts quality PSU unless you already have it

1900XT, after selling this card it should take around 150$ only
