Where to go for used parts, manuals, etc.?

My grade school nephew was given a damaged (looks like dropped) Acer Travelmate 2480 laptop with no software, documentation, etc. and would like to get this thing up and running. His family cannot afford a new one so I'm trying to get this one going.

Need to know if there is a site where used parts, manuals, etc. might be available. I've been surging Ebay but there hasn't been a whole lot for this model. The display is cracked so I know that needs replacing - you can only see something via VGA monitor hookup and even then the display seems to quit after a few minutes. Things are probably pretty loose on the inside too.

Would love recommendations on a site for parts, etc.

Thanks in advance......

P.S. Hope this is the right forum for this!

Thanks JackMDS.......I had already poked around Ebay, but was wondering if there was another site out there where used parts could be purchased....even auction style.

I saw Pacific Geek recommended in another thread for cheap refurbished parts for even really old machines. Looks like they sell notebooks as cheap as $100 for a P2.

I would try to find something on that site with the specs your nephew needs, rather than trying to fix the busted Travelmate.

My experience shows that when it comes to old Laptops parts ebay is always much less expensive.

ebay is probably a good start. It sounds like there is more wrong with it than the display though. Do they (or you) have the cash for a referb eeepc or something? I see them for under $200 a lot. You'll spend about that on a new LCD and MB (and probably battery too).
