I really don't know what kind of motherboard I'm using..but I have a VIA 82C691/Apollo Pro133A chipset, and an Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG bios..I've tried VIA's and Award's site but have come up with nothing..

Are you having trouble with a piece of hardware that is not working properly? If not then don't mess with it.......

Google all of the markings you find on your motherboard until you locate the mfg's website.

If you download and run (assuming you can) wcpuid 3.1a, do you get any sort of useful info from the System Info tab? (Motherboard info, especially?)

Like Capricorn said, you should be able to pull up a window in WCPUID that looks like this:

And if that doesn't work, you can always just open your computer up and look at the board :p ;)

If there is a specific issue that you're experiencing with your system that a BIOS update may/will fix, then this mandates the need for updating. If you're just looking to update your BIOS for the sake of having the latest BIOS, I would not try to fix something that isn't broken! :)

On my PERSONAL systems, I update no matter what whenever a new BIOS is available. For clients, if they aren't squawking, I'm not talking! :)

In order to update correctly, you MUST know who made your mainboard, the model and quite possibly the revision. Flashing with an incorrect BIOS will make you sad.
