Where to get toner for HP Laserjet 5MP

Hi all, I have this printer at home and it is printing larger dark bands across the paper. I am sure it's time to change the toner, but what else might be going on????

Hmm, usually you see faded output as opposed to dark bands. Could be the drum is getting old. How old is the toner cartridge? The LaserJet 5 series was pretty popular, you should be able to find toner in many of the larger computer stores (fry's, Best Buy etc). They are not cheap, but they last a long time. The last one cost me about $70. You may be able to find a refill or other type of replacement on the web.

Just to note that the laserjet 5MP is not part of the laserjet 5 series

Laserjets 5P/6P is a small desktop printer that uses the Canon VX engine
The "M" means more memory

Laserjets 4/4+/5 is has a larger monthly duty cycle and uses the Canon EX engine.

Its typical that the defects are caused from the cartridge. Normally a repeditive defect that if you know the circumferance of all the rollers in the cartridge and printer you could most likely match the distance to the defect to determine which is the culprit.
