Where to get subwoofer box?

Despite rumors to the contrary, box size is not that important.
All driver specs assume one side of the driver is enclosed while the other is open to infinite space. The cabin of your vehicle is certainly not open space and has an effect, which is close to impossible to calculate. In other words, if you have 500 cubic feet of cabin area on one side of the driver, do you think it really matters if you have 1.2 or 1.5 on the other side?

I thought box size did matter.

It does a little.
But, you can't know how big to make the box unless you know the volume of the interior of your car.
And, it doesn't matter that much anyway. Take any enclosure design program and what teh response change when you change size.

If you want, just make one yourself. Get a sheet of MDF, some screws, and wood glue and you're set

This is what I want to do 😛 Where do you buy the outside "carpeting" to match most vehicles trunk fabric?

Some of the subwoofers reccomend a certain size of enclosure for the best performance, but I am not sure how much that would affect it if you get a different size. I would say just try to get the closest size or make one yourself. Which kind of sub are you getting anyway?

I want to get a 1.5cf sealed sub box. I did three local stores and all they have are 1.2cf boxes. I also checked on www.speakerhole.com and all the closest to 1.5cf they have is 1.25 cubic feet.

What kind of car do you have?

Have you tried Crutchfield?

I got a Shiva Mark III should come in on wensday.

Honda civic, lx 4 door sedan.

Can anyone with an enclosure design program show me the graph differences bettween a 1.2cf box and a 1.5cf box? Would be greatly apprciated.

the only place i have ever seen it is in small audio shop places. private businesses. most major stores wont carry it so you are forced to buy their box.

the guy i got it from charged 10$ for a 3ft by 10ft piece....just a reference for ya

WTF?! You people are crazy. Box size certainly DOES matter for what driver you are using.

SpeakerHole.com is excellent
Bah, I just did a graph that shows little difference, and you have to rember the program does not even take into account the cabin volume. Someone who knows how to upload pictures send me your email addy and I will send the graph to you. 20kb.

In the above link by LordMaul:
The Yellow line is the 1.2 ft3 box
and the blue is the 1.5
add in the cabin volume and they coem even closer together.

So both 1.2cf and 1.5 cf are practially the same in other words? Will I hear a sound difference between the two?

What kind of shape are those boxes modelled as? Cubes? Rectangular prisms?
