I have a Gigabyte GA7IX motherboard. Does anyone know if there's a Slocket A adapter available which will allow me to use a Duron chip with it?

Thanks....

I'm not sure if they're even being made for the retail market. I know they are for OEM's because there are lots of slot A motherboards still available. But AMD wants to make the switch to socket A ASAP so finding one will probably be difficult to say the least. Let me know if you do find one though. Thanks. :)

My perception was a little different. I thought that AMD was going to make available a lot of Slot A new Athlons (Tbirds) to match the existing inventory of Slot A mobos. I hadn't heard of their making available any 'slockets' though, and I hadn't heard of any Slot A Durons being made either.

There was a report of a German company (plus a pic of their device)that had finished a slocket for the Irongate chipset in Slot A format, but not for the VIA.

I also thought that the new Athlons and Durons were compatible with the AMD 751 chipset (unlike the VIA KX133), so you might be able to get one of the Slot A form new Athlons (which I've heard are available now) and be up and running very soon. And I heard that GFD's will work with the new Slot A Athlons too.

Currently I've got a T-Bird running on the K7M from ASUS(AMD 751)... Their hardware monitoring software ASUS Probe is the only non compatible software so far... As for the Via KX133, my K7V won't boot past the boot screen, but it could have something to do w/ my BIOS are flashed to run my cache @2/5 for O/Cing....
Go to Tom's site @http://www6.tomshardware.com/cpu/00q2/000623/index.htmlhe mentions the KX133... As for the Gigabyte mobo, I haven't heard anything yet, but if it's an AMD 750 or 751 chipset you should be fine....

Sidenote: currently I've got my 700MHz T-bird @ 800 w/ a goldfinger, and it's SOLID...I'll go futher later but if you read the article @http://www.3dalpha.com/?filename=reviews/td2-1.txt you'll see that 100-150 above core may be standard...He had an 800 core do 950+, unfortunately my 21st week was a 700 core... Also, if you take off your heat-transfer plate, you'll notice as I did, that w/o the cache loaded to either side of the cpu, the chip has a tendency to rock back and forth as you reinstall the clips to hold it to the plate...NOT COOL!!! I'm lucky to say I didn't fry my chip in the process...
Good Luck,

Sh$t, I wish I could remember the link, a German company has a slocket for the T/Bird/Duron. Works fine with Irongate but they are still working on the Kx133. I believe it even had multiplier settings.
