My friend has a Sceptre LCD monitor with a bad inverter board. Sceptre won't sell him just the inverter board, they want it sent in so they can rake him over the coals to fix something he can do himself in 5 minutes. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Don't see any inverter boards on ebay. At least not for sceptre, unless someone knows exactly what board to look for, I'm sure sceptre doesn't make their own product.

What is the inverter board not doing ? ?
Are you sure it is defective ? ?
It is possible to be troubleshoot it if you know what you are doing.
These types of boards usually have an Oscillator, Ferrite Core
Transformer, Some Rectifiers & possibly some Power Transistors
and Resistors

You can probably get a replacement from this site:

http://www.laptopking.com/searhbrandresults.asp?brand=sceptre

Price runs from $39 to $89 depending on the model

My friend fixes/repairs monitors and TV's for a living, so he's sure it's the inverter board. Now, as far as if the inverter board itself is fixable, or exactly which part on the board is bad, I didn't ask.

Anyway thanks for the link, looks like they have inverter boards for 12" 14" and 15" screens, but the LCD in question is a 17" ... however it may share an inverter board with one of these 4, anything's possible. I'll pass it on and see if it helps.
