Right now it's already 3rd gen - mp3+ 5.1, x-gamer 5.1, platinum 5.1,
it's hard to find a 1st gen Live/Live value now,
but you may find one from those small local computer shops,
and pay at a higher price than present 3rd gen.
Kingofcomputer: I wouldn't call the Platinum 5.1 the 3rd generation (if the SBLive is the 1st or 2nd), considering they're essentially the same chip. Maybe you get a handful of more crap running in the tasktray with the 5.1 series, but if you don't have a home theatre there's really no need to pay lots of $$$ for no difference at all.
Addition: it's still very easy to get a good deal on an SBLive.
BlueScreen, although they use same chip,
but there are physical difference on the card from 1st gen to 3rd gen.
1st gen: 2 analog output
2nd gen: gold jack + sdpif jack
3rd gen: change to 3 analog output
