Seriously, I had an Ironman that was supposed to be water resistant/proof down to 200M. That POS started to fog up when submerged in less than a foot of water. For a cheap alternative, I would look at Casio, perhaps a G Shock if you want something similar to the Ironman in design.
I have an Ironman for 3 years now and it works fine. I've dove with it numerous times and don't have any trouble with it. Overall it is pretty good, it has a few scratches on the front, I suppose I am a bit rough with it though.
My Ironman is still ticking after ... six or seven years. It's in great shape and I've only changed the battery once. I like holding it up to my monitor and watching the screen flash to update the info in the watch. Well, I dunno what kind you're talking about, but mine you could store names/phone numbers in the watch and came with software to install that would sync with the watch by flashing black and white bars on the screen. You hold the watch up to your monitor, hit the sync button, and voila.
I have seemed to had the best of luck with Timex Ironman watches as opposed to others. I have had two Fossil watches and they were just 100% pure crap. I had a Bulova, while a nice watch it just had massive issues.
