I used a piece of plexi-glas when I did mods to my old case, its nice and thick and fairly sratch-resistant

Go to your local hardware store and have them cut you a piece of either good/high quality plexi or Lexan...

Plexi-glass is heavier, Lexan is tougher, possibly more "fire-resistant" and "self-extinguishing". Be patient cutting the stuff; personally, I'd forego any advice about using a jig or saber-saw to cut it, and use the scoring knife that Home-Depot sells with their Crystallite, Plexiglass and Lexan panels.

You can drill it, but I've been advised to start with a small bit, and make additional passes with progressively larger sizes.

Probably best to leave the paper and film cover on it while you're working with it.

Seems expensive, but then you won't need too much. I think I got about 3 sq feet or so for $8.

I've also heard you might be able to find local "plastics" shops that will give you some scrap pieces, but no telling how big those pieces would be or what shape they'd be in . . .

what about the seal to hold the plastic in? Where do you get hold of that and how do you install it so that it looks nice and tight?

Aslo, what do you guys use to cut the hole in the side of the case? Dremel + cutting disks?

I like what Coolermaster does for their window panels... They do a quality cut on the plexi and then screw mount it on the outside. No rubber/plastic/etc to hold it in, just the screws/bolts... It means you need to be perfect with your cuts since it all shows. They also bevel the edges of the plex, so that there are no sharp edges or corners on it.
