Where to get old labtops?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone out there knew a good place to get old labtops, like 486 DX2/66 or a low end Mobile Pentium 90/100/133. I've been searching around for quite a while now, and I can't seem to find anything lower then a Pentium II 233 or so. Anyone have any clue where to find these? I really need a dirt cheap notebook (sub $100) that I can just toss netBSD, emacs, gcc, and javac on.

Here's a useful response: Try ebay, many sellers try to ditch their old equipment there, but be cautious to make sure you aren't buying something completely dead as there's a high probability that any old machine will have major problems. Another more worthy, albeit expensive, source is compgeeks.com where they liquidate old stuff. Same rules apply.

If you lived in the UK I've got an old Pentium 120 with 32Mb of RAM you could have had! At my local computer show there are always plenty of old laptops for sale for around £100 ($140).

Anyway, why don't you try the For Sale/Trade forum - perhaps someone has something going cheap?

my mom has a 486 by nec and she wants to get rid of it. i'd sell it to you if i could, but we are hell miles away.

You could buy my old Compaq Elite 486/33 for 40 bucks. Its color and has a 300 meg HD. 🙂. I got Win95 running on it.
