Where to get large prints made?

i know WHCC can do it, anyone else? mpix and adorama seem to max out at 20x30/24x36

lucky my local school does it 30"x whatever... I think the largest I've done is a 30"x56" (since the widge is max 30", the length can be as long as you want it to be)

And they use a chromira machine to print these, so it's not costco's ink jet. It's actual chemicals to yield the best results! (Yes, this means you can wash the prints). They use Fuji Archival Lustre paper all the time though.... Free prints is included in the tution

When I went, it was 160 a session (each session consists of roughly 12 weeks? ~ a semester) and you can take all the classes you can handle there... they have classes everyday except friday, which friday is just lab day and studio day.

I think now the price is up to 180 bucks/ session...

i need someplace internet based. No costco or kinkos anywhere close to me, i live in the boonies. actually 29 of the 30 closest costcos to me isn't even in the USA and are all 2+ hours away

Your best best is a local print shop (a real printer, not a Kinkos).

Most of what you're going to find above that size will be inkjet of one kind or another.

For actual photo processing, I've always gone to Allied Photocolor, the gold standard for photo finishers here in STL. Their website isn't much to look at, but depending on your budget and needs they should be able to set you up with lightjet (aka Lambda or "c-prints"), inkjet (giclee if you want it to sound snooty) or traditional silver halide up to about 48x96 (might be larger for their inkjets).

This. A friend had an 8x10 enlarged there (don't know how big, but the sucker was big) and the overall sharpness was maintained nicely.

Been meaning to try them, but have not yet done so. They'll make actual photographic prints on Fuji Crystal Archive silver halide paper, up to 30"x13' (yes, feet!).

Beyond 30", I think you're probably going to be limited in your paper choices and will probably end up with something from an inkjet.

Not sure if you found someone as of yet...I use FinerWorks.com for my large format prints. They do up to 48x60 if I recall correctly. Just make sure you select from their Giclee prints as opposed to lab (I think 20x30 is max on all their lab prints). They do giclee on canvas and papers.
