does anyone know where i could get hold of a jumper (pin connector not clothing)?

i have a spare drive that has lost it's jumper and i can't use it without one, i have "made" one out of tin foil and white tak but that is a bit flakey.

i have tried in a few puter shops but no luck.

OMG you musta gone to some real dives. Most places would have just given you one or two to make you a happy customer. Try Radio Shack, or pull some off another old drive or mobo.

i thought about pullin a few off my current mobo but i don't have the manual so i don't wanna risk it.

nothing like radioshack here, only 2 comp shops, one selling games/periphs the other only doing "custom jobs"

both owned by w4nkers

Can you get a good measure on the distance between the pins or for what computer item it will go on ? There seems to be a few different sizes of jumper, but I have a bunch around and could drop a few in an envelope in exchange for a nice +1 heatware rating. :)

just 1, the kind that go into the back of a drive, not sure on the size but i think they are the most common.

what is this heatware you talk of?

Oh, it's like e-bay feedback, except it's not site specific. www.heatware.com It's used on the FS/FT forum to give credit to your experience and trustworthiness, like ebay feedback. It's free to use and sign up for as well.

Just send a PM with your address and I'll put a couple of what I expect to be the right jumpers in an envelope if interested in giving me a positive heatware rating for it. I already have some plusses, but another +1 is always good.

Are these for a SCSI drive? They use smaller ones than ide drives do.

shipping might not be a good idea, i think it would cost about £0.60 ($1) to get here

i'll just get a pack from some online place

Doh, UK. Yeah, you might be better off with someone from your side of the pond helping you out. I'd suggest returning to a computer store somewhere (not a corporate one, a small one built by hobbiests) and asking. You might also see something else you'd like to buy to make it sweeter for them, but if not, that's fine.
