Where to get checks for checkbook?

My bank wants like 30 bucks for a box of checks...I hardly use them, just for paying the association every month.

Where can you get them cheaper, if possible?

Wal-Mart Checks is what I use. Pretty cheap there.

Charles Schwab hooks me up for free. Also gives me free prepaid envelopes to mail in deposits.

Ditto, but for USAA. I can also deposit at home with a scanner.

You can make your own checks just handwriting on paper. As long as the required information is present it will work. You may have issues with private parties accepting them though.

that's not always a work-around.

I have to write checks to pay the rent and my doctor's office only accepts cash/check (and I always have to write them a check because they never send the bills till after the fact)
