Where to get a signature/personal loan?

Lease is up in October on the vehicle I'm using now and would like to buy a cheap beater. I've discovered that you can't get a used auto loan on a shitbox. So I'm looking to get a signature loan instead. Looking to spend around $4500 on a car, have a little over $1000 to put down.

My credit history is short, about 13 months. No derogatories on any of my credit reports most recent FICO(from myfico) is 702 from TransUnion. Wamu (my bank) doesn't offer them, and PenFed denied me(haven't received a letter yet saying why).

Have you tried a credit union?

From what I've seen most banks won't touch anything under $6k. If you live around Phoenix I've got a Camry I'm trying to sell for cheap 😉

You probably don't have enough credit to get a signature loan for that much. Why not put your 1k down and ask your bank or credit union to make you a loan secured by the vehicle? I don't know what you mean by a shitbox, but most credit unions make value based decisions on anything that has a book value.

Not with a limited history. Personal loans are the hardest to get. Getting a credit card is your only hope. You wont get a very big limit though.
