I have an old photo from my grandmother's (RIP) wedding day. It's black & white, around 5x7 and a bit distressed, but that's one reason why it's such a great photo. It's the only copy we have and I need to get it reproduced into an 8x10 for my mother.

What is my best option here as far as where to take it for a scan? I need it to come out as close to the original as possible but in the larger size. I'm assuming that just using the Kodak self-scan at Sam's Club won't cut it. Any chain photo stores that would do a great job? Other ideas? Thanks...

If it's a wedding picture....

call ahead, talk to the photo folks/manager. I took wedding pictures from 1950 in, and WalMart wouldn't let me take them (they DID let me copy them, stood there for an hour with old family photos). Some will, some won't, it's "copyrighted" so they can't let you.

Look around for a *local* photography store that sells high end cameras, offers printing, enlarger use, etc. and contact them, they can probably help you. Depending on the condition, they might find it best to make a digital version of it to edit.
