WHERE TO FIND THE HARDDRIVE RAIL FOR GW6400?

they sell a bag o' rails, so to speak for about $25 bucks.
but you're right, they will not sell you one rail or just one pair.

And that bag O rails is only an (incomplete) set for one
computer, which is not
so much a bag O rails as it is a small number of rails.

Not such a hot deal.

These rails are not proprietary to Gateway. For example, HP uses
the exact same rails in their XM600/XU800 Kayaks. So there must
be a source for just the rails...and I'm sure they'd be WAY cheaper
if you could find that source...but to my knowledge no one has...

Part number of left drive rail is 8004245. Part number of right drive rail is 8004246. I bought two of the Gateway 6400 servers and was able to order six pairs of drive rails from my CSR for shipping plus tax -- $6.44 total. If your CSR doesn't want to order these for you, I would ask "how can you sell me a computer without the necessary equipment to mount drives in the drive bays?"

If that doesn't work, try "let me speak to your supervisor" and keep bitching until you get satisfaction. I would give you the name and extension of my CSR, but I'm sure she doesn't want to be buried with calls on which she makes no commission.
