If I were to show up in your neck of the woods, where would I find the best Barbeque?

Here in the Orlando area, Bubbalou's is very popular.

Kansas City is the BBQ capital. Home of BBQ royalty. This is the Camelot of BBQ. You will find none better, than in KC. The best place? Arrowhead parking lot before a Chief's game.

If you were to come next month, I'd say Memphis in May International BBQ Cooking Contest---can't get here soon enough. MMMMMMMM.

Though if you were to come any other time, I'd have to say Tom's BBQ.

...and Memphis, NOT Kansas City, is the BBQ capital;)

Uh-oh, this is starting to look just like the flame wars that you see in the barbeque newsgroups. All we need now is a Texan to tell both of you that there is NO bbq outside of The Great State of Texas.

You never heard of any tailgating going on in Memphis when the Titans were there. That's were all the good BBQ is...tailgate parties. KC is known for the tailgate parties and the BEST BBQ.

They have a place outside of Austin in Dripping Springs called "Salt Lick" which is supposedly very famous, though maybe I'm just used to it. Its on a ranch in the middle nowhere, and you get all you can eat ribs, brisket, sausage, bread, cole slaw, and potato salad you can fit in your tummy. The only rules are that you have to try and eat all the meat off your ribs, and be out of the restaurant in like 2 hours or something...I guess so people don't camp out in there haha. plus its BYOB!!!

Other than that, they have this like Ruby's BBQ thats a tiny little place that a bunch of famous folks have been to over the years...good stuff...they also make a mean Jambalya

If you're ever in the Dallas area and want good barbecue, go ahead and drive 30 minutes west to Fort Worth and head to a place called Angelo's north of downtown. Hands down the best barbecue I've ever had. I'm not too big a fan of the Dickey's around here in Dallas after having had REAL barbecue.

Of course the real BBQ comes from Texas, not one of those other poseur states :)

My vote goes for Goode Co. BBQ in Houston. There isn't a better sauce out there.

Junthin,

I am not from Texas, but I used to go to Austin a lot. The County Line is effing AWESOME barbeque! Simply the best. To top it off, you can get there by boat which just makes it cooler...

In NYC, the best BBQ is Brother Jimmy's

Of course, you BBQ neophytes have never been to the real BBQ capital, Lexington, North Carolina. They have some great resturants.

Actually alot of it depends on teh flavor of sauce you like and if you like smoked meat. Personally I like the st louis/KC flavor the best :) Memphis is the least favorite style for me hehe.

Truthfully, from what I've heard there are 2 capitals of BBQ.

Lexington, NC uses primarily pork and has a sweeter flavor.

KC, Missouri uses primarily beef and has a tangy flavor.

Although the best BBQ I've had is in Durham, NC. :)

No doubt about Memphis being the best at BBQ. THe BBQ cooking contest coming up during Memphis in May is for the World Championship. A town north of Memphis called Covington, is home of the oldest BBQ cooking contest in the US. The BBQ places in Memphis are so well known, the FedEx out 100's of pounds of BB everyday to people all over the US.

Memphis is the king of BBQ!!!!

For Ribs, I just have to say KANSAS CITY.
Texas next and then Memphis, Tenn but only if you like sweet sauce.

If it aint ribs and it aint pork then it aint bar-b-que.;):)
Beef ribs are next.
Like some of the other stuff too.
