Where to find fine sandpaper?

I'm planning on spraying painting my Dell DJ. However, it has a bunch of scratches that I have to buff out before i can start the process. I've been to a couple craft stores in the area (I live in Bridgewater, NJ btw) as well as Home Depot and all they sell is usually wood sanding paper that's too large a grain to use to on my DJ. Does anyone know where I can go in Jersey to get the fine grain crafts paper I need to get the job done?

are you sure you want sand paper? You might want a rubbing compound instead.... FWIW, we sell high grit sandpaper at kmart too.

Also try automotive stores.

What grain did you get? Was this for a project involving thin metals/plastics or electronics?

Go to a auto parts store or a paint store. (auto paint)

That's the way to do it, up to 2000 is easy to find.

Back in the days of PPGA Celerons I lapped HS's & the top of the CPU to 2000. Used a small plate of glass as a flat surface.

If you go to Wal-Mart they have the really fine sandpaper in the automotive section near the car spray paints. I'm assuming all of us live near a Wal-Mart.

It was for a computer case, both metal sides and the plastic bezel. I don't recall how fine I went. I know I had 200grit...and probably at least 325.
