Where to find CURRENT reviews of CompactFlash media used in digital cameras?

DPREVIEW has a media index, but it's old as dirt. I'd like to see if any site has an updated listing with Lexar 40X Pro CF cards tested.

Here's a question. I have a Canon A95...would I really notice any speed difference between a regular Viking 1GB CF card and the Lexar 40X Pro 1GB card? I figured that most of the speed benefits would go to the SLR cameras but what do I know?😉

The reason why I ask is b/c I'm in a bit of a dilema. My GF just called and told me that here mom wants me to bring my camera for the Baptism we're going to tomorrow so I'm gonna be taking a lot of pictures (that 32MB card that came with my camera will fill up fast). I just got my Viking 1GB CF card in today that I ordered last week. I sold my old Viking 512MB card to pay for it and already shipped that off so I'm stuck with a brand new unopened Viking 1GB card and the 32MB card that came with the camera.

And then I find this deal on the Lexar 40X card today, but it won't arrive until the 29th.

Bottom line, I'm gonna HAVE to crack the seal on this 1GB Viking card to use tomorrow no matter what. BUT, should I just keep the Viking card and use it and sell the Lexar 40X Pro on eBay and make a killing, or is the speed difference THAT great that I should keep the Lexar and sell the Viking once it gets here?

just use the viking for your cam if it's not a DSLR, it won't make a difference. sell the lexar on ebay.

no you won't. the only way you'll notice a difference between the two will be if you had a not even an entry level but a pro-level dSLR.

buy the cheaper one.

not true, the D70 is not a PRO DSLR but i can tell the diff between my Transcent 45x cards and my Sandick Ultra 2 cards

the Ultra 2s are noticibally faster when shooting in bursts

Out of curiosity, do you take all your pictures at highest max resolution?

How many pics can you fit onto 256 or 512MB?

I just inserted the 1GB Viking card into my camera and at SuperFine Quality at 2592x1944, I can take 394 pictures

Damn with my uber-Elite-A40 I can probably take 2,000 pics on 1GB at low quality setting.

Where's my cookie???

minimiliseconds. if that's your things, perhaps you should invest in a better dSLR 😉
