These are the rules, so look for the mention I wanna thread and make sure you SEARCH before you ask

Post the hottest prices and deals you've found on the net in the AnandTech Hot Deals forum. Please stick to deals you've found, not items you are seeking. This is NOT a shopping service. No dealers and no SPAM (IE: muli-level marketing, pay-to-surf, pay-for-referral schemes or links to auctions) allowed! Please DO NOT POST COUPON NUMBERS or PROMOTIONAL CODES.

You just missed the $50 (after MIR) Antec SX830 deal at Outpost.com. It was $70 - $20 MIR and shipping was only $7 for AE ground. Keep watching Hot Deals and there may be another Antec case deal out there just waiting to pop up.

Check the OutPost.com thread though - they still have the $20 rebate I think and they have free shipping on orders $100 or more so you can get the case plus something else and get a pretty good deal still (just not as hot as before but Antec cases don't seem to go on sale very often so you might want to grab one with any kind of deal right now :)).

Reviews are written for a reason :). I don't own any Antec cases but they have a good rep. All you have to do is go search at google.com or see anandtech.com (sure they have a review or two) and you'll get the scoooop.

When one buy a performance series case, e.g. 830-sx, Antec backs that product with a 3 year warranty. Under this warranty, a person can use a cheap $10 VOM to ensure the motherboard and devices are powered properly within common sense. It not to wise, buying a high-end graphic card, stuffing a case with a cdr and dvd players, and hooking up a hand-ful of fans, then going with a fancy, no-name, and/or unpowered case to save money.

What's VOM stand for? Voltage multimeter? But anyway, I kinda agree with you but it is the power supply that is important not the case itself. So if you don't care about style, quality (as in no sharp edges although even the cheapo cases aren't bad in this area), etc and just want a cheap case go for it and consider getting a decent power supply...

You will know the why after you build your system on it. I love my SX1030 from EMScomputing and SX830 from outpost. Outpost still has $90-$20 rebate, free shipping (probably overnight!) for orders over $99, hot deal if not smoking.

Call me frugal guy if you want but I can go to the local computer junkyard and find a case comparable to these for $5. In fact I bought 5 of them for $25 bucks. Drive bays: 4x 5.25", 6x 3.5" and extremely durable. Just add a $40 300W power supply with a warranty and it's still hella cheaper.

No way you find a case with 1.0 mm metal sheeting, two removable sides, removable HD cages, removable sliders for quick removal of all your 51/4" drives for 5.00. This thing weighs nearly 30 lbs, it's solid as a rock. If you've never seen one in person you won't appreciate what others and myself are telling you. I own the 1030 which is essentailly the same as the 830 with a couple extras.

ya get what you pay for...

antec cases rock - and the power supplies rock too. (I've got a sx630 and an sx830)

dare I say, they're worth paying "full price" for if need be

damn, I can't believe I said F.P. :)

anyway, emscomputing.com and directron.com are your hook-up for antec cases on da cheap

it's like comparing a Cadillac to a Yugo-the sx1030s come with 2 exhaust fans mounted in the rear,2 empty mounts in the front that 80mm fans snap into, one of which will blow across your harddrive that mounts in a quick release drive cage-you have to build with one to know-and buying a comparable one for $5 ? I don't think so. They're heavy, solid and big with lots of room for airflow. In doing close to 3000 Roadrunner installs I've seen nothing comparable.

If you live in the midwest, microbarn is a great place to get antec cases. Ditto about provantage shipping...they want $27 to ship logitech z560's from Ohio to Illinois. I went to UPS and Fedex and they charge $15 for 50lb packages. Thats just not cool.

The Chieftech cases at Newegg appear to be from the same OEM supplier as the Antec cases. The only difference is that the Chieftech cases do not have Antec power supplies.

yup the chieftech case is the same as the antec case which is the same as the enermax, etc. Antec doesnt make the case, they just add the powersupply and the fans and put in into an antec box. There are probably many different names for this particular case but its all the same except for the power supply. I have 2 SX1030s myself and they really are great. Strong, not too bad looking, easily accessible, great customer service, and the power supply aint bad either.

I got two Antec power supplies.... they are good, but I got two CPU fans from them too....took me hours to install them....because of the capacitors around.....and I actually broke one capacitor, but I glued it back;) it worked though.

The fans are great!!! If they are smaller in size or easier to install.
