Where to find a DC car adaptor for a laptop?

Hello all,

I'm heading on a week-long roadtrip from Missouri to California. I plan on taking my Notebook, a Compaq 2135US, but I can't find anyplace that sells a DC car adaptor. Is there a good site to find one, or are they even available?

Thanks for any help.
 
I bought an inverter at Radio Shack that allows me to plug my normal AC adapter into it. My setup goes from the power outlet in the car to the inverter to the AC adapter to the laptop.
