Where to find $30 off coupon for $150+ buy.com purchase? Any direction would be great. It would be even better if you could help me locate one before tomorrow midnight PST...buy.com has free shipping on items $50+. Thanks in advance.

thanks guys...I got the coupon. Now I'm not a new user at buy.com, so in order for this to coupon to work I had to switch my email address. It worked out fine, but will they pick up on it if they are shipping to the same address. Everything went through though, including final billing/confirmation statement with my order number. So once they issue this they can't change anything correct? If you guys know please let me know. Otherwise I might have to have a relative do the deal before midnight tomorrow, or today that is. Thanks guys.

Chances are they won't 'pick up' on the fact that you have a similar but separate account as long as you used a different credit card. For all they know, one of your accounts could be a business account, and one a personal account... and I guess you'd have to work out of your home to have the addresses be the same... :) anyway, not to worry.

So they do check for the same CC #'s eh? And I'm guessing that they check it against previous orders because I signed my wife up with a new account, diff email obviously because that is the login. Same CC#, different Name on the card. On my account, I changed the billing info to personal check so the cc# isn't attached to my account that way.

When I goto check out for her, it spits back that she already used a coupon. Guessing it's because it's checking the card # against a list they have comprised of cc#'s already used with them.

Just a thought, PWAG, which coupon code did you use? There are several $30 off $150 codes, curious as to which one you used.

Thanks in advance all,
Eddie

SKU number was 80303174. Everything checked out for me. So what your saying is that if buy.com did not spit back anything at me for using the $30 coupon I should be all set. I did forget to mention I set up a new account with a different email and different cc# (i think...can't quite remember). But all is good I hope. Thanks for the interest.

The coupon doesn't strictly apply to new accounts. It should really say 'For those that have not used a coupon before'. My roomate used one last week and he's ordered quite a few times from them, but first coupon. I, on the other hand, had used a coupon so new cc# for me. Check out the amex blue if you want to make it easy to use the same card. They let you generate a new cc# for every purchase you make.

Hope this helps.

ElDiablo,

Can you give more info on amex blue and multiple cc#? AFAIK, it isn't available.

Here's some info from Tech Bargains

Blue Card From Amex 19-Sep-00
Want to take advantage of this one time use card number? (You run an app and it spits out a random one time use Amex card number.) Makes your transactions secure and you get new credit card #'s without much effort! Blue from American Express has no annual fee, 0% introductory APR, Blueloot Rewards. Most importantly they have Return Protection so you can return stuff even if the merchant won't take it back. Best Value Guarantee so if the price drops within 60 days of purchase, you'll be protected upto $250 an item, $1000 back max a year. Update: Blue for Business does not offer all these, so still to Blue. (Thanks Steve)

Where is this app that generates one-time use numbers? Is it from AMEX or someone else? I have a Blue card and can't find anything about this on their site. Dose someone have a link to this info?

Please! Where is the information about changing the account numbers? That is a must have!

Thanks!
Rereading his post, it looks like you get a one time use number when you are approved during application procedure. Not exactly what we were hoping for!

For any newbies, you can get a MasterCard "number" by signing up for webcertificate.com. The only problem is that there is a $2.95 processing fee <$50, and $3.95 for between $50 & $100.

Lots of people have been repeating TechBargain's assertion that Blue will spit out new CC#'s whenever you need it, but I've never seen a link to this alleged app... I've looked all over their site, and I can't find it. Has anyone actually DONE this? If so, how did you do it?

FYI, i don't think AMEX has limited this feature to only BLUE users. If you go to their website you can find info on private payments which allows you to generate unique credit card numbers to be used online. Check this page...http://americanexpress.com/homepage/personal.shtml...register for this feature and download the application...happy shopping...hopefully, companies won't catch on for at least a little while until after i start paying off these CCs so i can start using this feature to max out to my limit again...hhehehe....
