I have an older Dell Inspiron laptop and I would like to get another year or so out of it. The hard drive is the original 30GB 4200rpm IDE drive. I would like to replace it with a 40-80GB 5400rpm IDE drive, but I'm finding it difficult to find a new one. Any suggestions?

I've seen some refurbished drives, but I'm leery of them as most have manufacture dates in the 2002-2007 range.

I have a (I think 250GB) IDE 2.5" PATA drive in my FS thread. Brand new in box, shrinkwrapped.

You know better Larry.

No selling outside of FS/T.

There are lots of places to pick one up:

- Newegg ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...irtualParent=1 )
- Frys Electronics Carries them
- Craigs List
- Local Computer Repair Stores (always have used ones )

Remember that you can also pull one from an old external USB/FW enclosure which are readily seen forsale on Craigs List
