I just upgraded my thermostat and now I have a mercury switch with ~10ml of the stuff. I want to dispose of it as environmentally friendly as possible. Where should I take it?

I would google for recycling center in your county, most places have a specific recycling center where you can take stuff like that. If not, try to get a number to some kind of county recycling program and ask them.

Wrap in a blanket with a note pinned to stating that you are sorry but really can't care for it, then leave it on the steps of your local hospital.

Or just throw it in a dumpster like others choose to do.

I would bet that at most of these "eco" frendly places take the crap in and put it all in a big ass dumpster in the back to go to a oland fill.

Break it open and play with the mercury for a while. Me and my siblings would spend hours playing with the stuff when we were little.

You really had no reason to resurrect this thread.

I saw ace's name as the author and under the circumstances, it makes me sad.

Thankfully it's a necro thread, I thought someone else registered as him!

That's very strange as the threads are in chronological order all the time.

I dunno. I had to log in twice. I looged in, saw this thread, did a quick reply, got an error that said I didn't have permission to comment, checked, was somehow not logged in, re-logged in, back back back, reply, voila! I agree it was strange. I don't go looking for 2000 year old posts.
