where to connect USB adapter on motherboard?

I have a HDD that I bought a few years ago and an external usb case I bought seperately to use it with a laptop. It has since been collecting dust and I decided to put the HDD in my desktop computer but it is a PATA drive and I have no more connectors left on my mobo for it. So i took apart the case and removed the USB part and want to stick in inside my comp to get it to work the only problem I have is power for the USB adapter... where do I plug it into? I was thinking it would plug into the 3 pin male connectors on my motherboard but im still learning about this stuff and dont want to fry my computer. Ive included pictures of the power wire and the adapter.

3 pin connector only 2 wires in it.

I know there are prolly easier ways to do this but this is alot more fun and im learning so if anyone has any input on this that would be great.
