Where to connect front panel audio

Is it possible to hookup the mic and headphone ports on the front of the case to an external soundcard such as the SoundBlaster Live 5.1. If so how would I do this. I didn't see anywhere to plug it into. Motherboards onboard sound usually has this option, but wouldn't I want to run it through the external card.
