As the subject says, are there any places that sell unlocked XP's. If so where?

Check some of the ocer websites. Some I believe also sell things and may market them...

Otherwise I would go into the for/sale thread and post a wtb an unlocked xp processor...I imagine somebody out there will do it and sell them for around 30-40 bucks more (if brand new) then they buy them plus shipping...

You could always pay the premium and get an mp processor which I belive are all unlocked....About a 50-60 dollar premium there...

Thanks for the info. What sites actually sell them? I've been out of it for a while and am not sure where to look.

Any one else have any info as to weather the MP's are unlocked or not?

Yes, the only difference between Athlon XPs and MPs is that MPs are factory unlocked and are certified/tested for use in multi-processor systems.

If you want to overclock your CPU, you might see a better performance increase by overclocking the FSB instead of the multiplier. If your going to pay an extra $$$ to buy an unlocked CPU, it might make sense to adjust the FSB for free. If you're in the market for a MOBO as well, there are some that officialy support 166Mhz such as the IWILL.
