So, once they are REALLY out and available, they should drop to....?? $160 - $170?? I'm thinking maybe more towards the 2.6C. To get a 2.4C up in the GHz, you will need an insanely high FSB (275 - 300). Performace will be great, but I'm not sure how these boards will handle that yet. Things like NB heat, high frequency causing noise on the bus, etc come to mind. I guess we shall see soon enough. ;)

Darn it ! I was hoping to get a 2.4C or 2.6C today because my Amex BVG, price protection, ends as of May 1st.

i spoke with a lady at atacom. i ordered the p4 2.6 800 from them yesterday, and called today to follow up. so the story is that apparently they had some in stock, but intel decided to recall all the 800mhz cpus. i thought it was just for the 3.0ghz one, but apparently intel recalled all of them. she told me that the new ones should arrive in about a week.

i too tried to get my order in before amex bvg expires. so what i ended up doing was to keep my order with atacom, and had them go ahead and charge me for the cpu today! that way i'll still be able to pricematch later. if you are thinking of using your amex bvg for the one last time, you might want to give them a try. they are pretty reliable, i've been to their storefront/warehouse in fremont, CA, and it looked pretty legit.
