I just bought a Plextor 48X burner and it came bundled with a free CDR. This one is pretty unique with TAIYO YUDEN Made in Japan printed bottom center and has a type RV labeled "That's" CDR. Does anyone know where I can purchase some of these CDRs?

have you never visited the hot deals forum? almost every week there is a thread discussing the sales on cdr media, and in those threads they usually mention if they're TY's.

anyhow, if you have a sears near you, i'd go check them out. look for HP 16X CDR's, they should be on clearance at $4.XX for a 50pack. they are TY's and althought they're rated at 16X, they burn up to 40X just fine.

TY's aren't worth spending extra money on in my experience. I used to only use TDKs, but Best Buy doesn't carry TDK anymore, so i picked up a 50 pack spindle of Sony CD-Rs. However, Kmart carries "made in china" 50 and 100 pack spindles of TDK. It doesn't really matter to me...i burn @ 40x with no problem.

Just look for any place that sells FujiFilm CD-R's with blue shrinkwrap on the spindle. Best Buy, Circuit City, Micro Center(overpriced there)

Search the Hot Deals forum for TY or Taiyo Yuden, they can be bought at BB, CompUSA, CostCo, Target, CC, I've even seen them at Walmart.

Read my post above yours. Do you have any of those stores in your area?

Look for Fujifilm, usually they're a screw top and always say MADE IN JAPAN (not Taiwain) on the outside packaging.

They do exist and are easy to find, if you try.

TY's are without a doubt the best CDR's in my experience... well worth spending the extra penny on :)

I'm looking for this particular CDR with Type RV technology: CDR-80AC5Y10SR. They're faster than the rebadged TY's found in the states. Only stores I can find are ones in Japan :(
